Jackson is also widely considered a candidate to replace Tom Cable, whose contract as Raiders head coach was not extended Tuesday evening.The 49ers requested permission to interview Jackson and New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell on Monday. It is uncertain whether Fewell will formally interview for the job. Fewell has also been identified as a candidate for openings in Cleveland and Carolina.Jackson, 45, engineered a remarkable turnaround for the Raiders' offense this season. The 49ers named Trent Baalke as team general manager Tuesday night. Team president Jed York has said the general manager will hire the 49ers' next coach. Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh is atop Baalke's list of coaching candidates, a source said, but the 49ers have yet to schedule a formal interview with him.
