James Wiseman’s roller-coaster rookie season is over already.
The Warriors announced Wiseman will miss the rest of the season and be re-evaluated in September after undergoing knee surgery on Thursday.
Around the same time the Warriors rolled to a 119-101 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wiseman shared a message for his fans on his Instagram story.

It’s encouraging to see Wiseman appears to be in good spirits after his surgery on his torn meniscus.
The 20-year-old Wiseman had a stop-and-go campaign in his first season with the NBA. He got off to a late start and missed training camp after dealing with COVID-19.
Wiseman missed 11 games with a sprained left wrist before missing three more contests in March due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

In between, Wiseman showed flashes of brilliance that make you think he can be a true unicorn in the NBA, as an athletic 7-footer who is capable of anything on the floor. But he also struggled with foul trouble, defensive positioning and had other mental lapses typical of a rookie.
Wiseman played 39 games, starting 27, averaging 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per contest.
