Steph Curry is a fan of the moves Golden State made in NBA free agency and the draft, and despite losing Klay Thompson, the two-time NBA MVP loves where the Warriors are at entering training camp.
It was a lot to process in one night.
Hours before the 2020 NBA Draft on Nov. 18, Warriors’ star Klay Thompson suffered a torn right Achilles that will force him to miss the entirety of the 2020-21 season. The latest injury came after Thompson missed last season due to a torn ACL he suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
Golden State assistant coach Mike Brown reflected on how he felt when he heard the news about Klay's Achilles injury.

“I felt bad for Klay,” Brown told The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami on "The TK Show" this week. “There’s certain guys out there that you don’t wish an injury upon anybody, but there are some guys that probably guys that play the game for different reasons than what most people play the game for, but Klay, even if Klay had to pay somebody, I still think he’d be playing hoops in a little one-bedroom shack. As long as he can get out there and play hoops, I think he would be happy in life. He’s just that type of guy.”

For Brown, he felt bad not for Klay the basketball superstar who won three NBA championships with the Warriors, but for Klay the person.

“To hear it happen to him, especially after being out this past year, plus, man I felt bad for us obviously," Brown said. "But I felt so bad for him as an individual just the type of person he is and how much he loves the game, to know that he’s got to sit out a second year, I felt devastated for him first."
We won’t be able to see Klay on the court this season, and replacing his presence is impossible, but it goes to show just how much of an impact he has on his team.
