LeBron, Klay joke on Instagram about Warriors, playoffs

Warriors assistant general manager, Kirk Lacob, joined Kerith Burke and Grant Liffmann on Runnin’ Plays to discuss Klay Thompson’s offseason.

LeBron James knows the Warriors will be back next season. As his Los Angeles Lakers look to win a NBA championship within the Orlando bubble, he certainly hasn't forgotten about Golden State.

James passed Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson on the all-time playoffs 3-pointers list for third place in NBA history. When Thompson saw the news on Instagram, he wrote "Dang don't do me like that @kingjames!!" And LeBron has a pretty good idea the Splash Brother will be back to burying 3s in the near future.

"@klaythompson I have a strong hunch you'll pass me right back in the playoffs 2021 playoffs!!" James responded.

Thompson last played for the Warriors on June 13, 2019 when he tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Before he was forced out of the game, Thompson already scored 30 points in 31 minutes, and drained four 3-pointers.

The Warriors reached five straight Finals before having the worst record in the NBA this season at 15-50. But they are primed to be contenders once again in the stacked Western Conference next season. Golden State should have a healthy core of Thompson, Steph Curry -- who only played five games this season -- Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins. Plus, the Warriors have the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and will have plenty of free-agent options.

LeBron is eyeing the Larry O'Brien Trophy this season, but he obviously knows the Warriors will be lurking once again in the near future.
