BOX SCORE

Stephen Curry did it again. He ignited his teammates, crushed another opponent and set off fireworks in another arena.

Curry scored 53 points Saturday night to lead the Warriors to a 134-120 victory over the Pelicans at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.

The reigning MVP’s one-man show – which included a personal-record 28-point third quarter – cracked open what had been a close game and allowed the Warriors to sweep a two-night, back-to-back road trip that began in Houston.

Three other Warriors scored in double figures, as Draymond Green put in 21, Klay Thompson finished with 19 and Harrison Barnes added 11.

Curry’s display, which came within a point of tying his career high, allowed the Warriors to overcome deficits in rebounding (48-38), points in the paint (56-36) and second-chance points (19-1).

STANDOUT PERFORMER

For the third consecutive game this season, it’s Curry who takes home the crown for the night.

When a guy goes for 53, including 28 in a pivotal quarter, it’s silly to consider anyone else the Player of the Game.

In addition to the copious scoring, Curry found enough time to add nine assists, four rebounds and four steals.

TURNING POINT

When New Orleans trimmed the Warriors’ lead to five (88-83) on a Dante Cunningham 3-pointer with 4:14 left in the third quarter, the Warriors responded with a 17-6 run to go up 105-89 with 39.5 seconds left in the quarter.

Curry scored 13 of the 17 points, including a 4-point play (3-pointer and a free throw) that punctuated the rally.

The Pelicans got no closer than nine (115-104, 5:26 remaining) the rest of the way.

INJURY UPDATE

Warriors: C Andrew Bogut (concussion) is not with the team. F Kevon Looney (hip surgery) is out indefinitely.

Pelicans: C Omer Asik (R calf sprain) and F Luke Babbitt (L hamstring strain) were listed as questionable but both played. G Norris Cole (L ankle sprain), G Tyreke Evans (R knee surgery) and F Quincy Pondexter (L knee surgery) are listed as out.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Warriors return to the Bay Area, where on Monday night they face the Memphis Grizzlies at Oracle Arena.
