A's vs. Twins game Monday postponed due to COVID-19 issues

The A’s got early home runs from Matt Olson, Mark Canha and Aramis Garcia, while Cole Irvin secured his first big league win in almost two years as Oakland beat Detroit 7-0 while running their win streak to seven.

The Athletics no longer are playing the Minnesota Twins on Monday in Oakland. 

Manager Bob Melvin told reporters Sunday that Monday's game has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues with the Twins. The A's and Twins could play a doubleheader Tuesday after the postponement.

Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons, who declined to take a vaccine, tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday. The Twins' last two games have been postponed because of COVID-19 complications. 

The A's play the Detroit Tigers on Sunday in Oakland. They enter Sunday with an 8-7 record after winning seven straight games.
