The Giants reportedly are adding a veteran right-handed pitcher in Carlos Torres.
According to MLB Trade Rumors' Steve Adams, Torres will be signing a minor league deal with the Giants after he elected free agency over an outright with the Minnesota Twins. Adams also reported Torres will head straight to Triple-A Sacramento.
The 36-year-old is in his 10th MLB season. But his Triple-A numbers are ones that have stand out.

In 48 1/3 innings across three teams in the minors this season, he's allowed 45 hits and 15 earned runs with a 2.79 ERA. He's also limiting batters to a .254 batting average, including his short stint with the San Diego Padres' Triple-A affiliate, where he limited hitters to a .226 average.
So, it appears he can handle hitters in the Pacific Coast League rather well.

Following the Giants' pitching moves around the trade deadline, Torres could make for an option down the stretch -- although he hasn't pitched in a major league game since June 16 with the Tigers when he tossed just one inning.
