In a usual year, Giants scouts could finally take a bit of a breather after the final round of the MLB draft.
But this year is different in every way, and that includes the draft. It was cut from 40 rounds to five, leaving more than 1,000 extra amateur players undrafted, and starting on the morning of June 12 those players were allowed to sign with any MLB club for up to $20,000.
The Giants already have selected seven players and expect to sign them all.

Brett Auerbach, C/OF/3B, Alabama
According to Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball, the Giants have signed the utility player.
Wil Jensen, RHP, Pepperdine
Jensen, previously drafted by the A's, was one of the top undrafted pitchers available and was ranked No. 236 on Baseball-America's pre-draft list. Per BA, he is a potential back-end starter. Jensen had Tommy John surgery as a sophomore but this season was 3-0 with a 2.19 ERA in four starts before the shutdown.
Robert Emery, C, USF
The Giants promised to focus on local prospects, and this is as local as it gets. The latest addition, as reported by a former SI football star:
