Wondo is MLS Player of Week

NEW YORKSan Jose Earthquakes Forward Chris Wondolowski was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 31 of the 2012 MLS season.

Wondolowski took a leap closer to Roy Lassiters 1996 single-season goals record of 27 with a three-goal performance against the Colorado Rapids, bringing his season total to 25.

Wondolowski has two more matches to top the long-standing league record: one against the LA Galaxy and the final game of the regular season against the Portland Timbers. His hat trick this weekend also broke the Earthquakes all-time scoring record as he topped Ronald Cerritos with his 62nd goal in a San Jose uniform.

The honor is Wondolowskis fourth MLS Player of the Week award this season after garnering the accolade in Weeks 9, 19 and 29.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http:www.soccerreporters.com.
