The Premier League announced Thursday that matches will go ahead as scheduled this weekend, despite the recent coronavirus pandemic.
Soon after the announcement, it was reported Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta received a positive test result for the illness.

"Our London Colney training centre has been closed after head coach Mikel Arteta received a positive COVID-19 result this evening.
"Arsenal personnel who had recent close contact with Mikel will now self-isolate in line with Government health guidelines. We expect this to be a significant number of people from Colney, including the full first-team squad and coaching staff, as well as a smaller number of people from our Hale End Academy which we have also temporarily closed as a precaution."
Following Arteta's positive test, the league now is working quickly to figure out the next course of action.
The Associated Press' Rob Harris reported Thursday that the Premier League will convene in an emergency meeting on Friday morning "regarding future fixtures."

Arsenal was scheduled to play Brighton on Saturday.
So far, MLB, MLS, the NHL and NBA have each taken steps to cancel and suspend sporting events because of the COVID-19 outbreak so far.
