COLUMBUSDefenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic is good to go for tonights Sharks-Blue Jackets game at Nationwide Arena.

The defenseman, who took a deflected puck to the face against Detroit on Sunday early in the third period, appeared on the ice this morning in a full cage to protect himself from further damage.

He did not skate on Monday, but said that he was concerned about his peripheral vision.

When reminded of that on Tuesday, Vlasic said: The cage is worse than my eye is, but yeah, Im ready to go. Ill be in the lineup tonight.

Todd McLellan isn't surprised the cage is somewhat annoying for Vlasic.

Its been years and years since a lot of them wore that type of apparatus, so its going to bother them a little bit," he said.

Vlasic and McLellan both said they had not yet seen the results of a CT scan from Monday, but apparently are not concerned enough to keep the player from the lineup.

Antti Niemi is expected to start for San Jose, which will play its sixth game of a nine-game road trip. The Sharks are just 1-3-1 through the first five.
