Sharks' Torres clears waivers, assigned to Barracuda

The Sharks officially assigned forward Raffi Torres to the Barracuda on Saturday after the 34-year-old cleared waivers.

Torres, attempting to return to the NHL after a series of right knee operations and 41-game suspension this season, has played three games with the Sharks’ AHL affiliate going scoreless with one shot on goal.

The Barracuda is currently on a five-game road trip. It has lost six straight, including a 2-1 defeat in San Antonio on Friday, as head coach Roy Sommer remains just one win shy of tying Bun Cook for the most wins in league history (636).

Torres did not play Friday after he was placed on waivers in the morning. He is eligible to play on Saturday when the Barracuda take on San Antonio again.
