Sharks: The Sharks won their home opener on Saturday over Anaheim, 2-0, behind two goals from Patrick Marleau and 27 saves by Martin Jones. Tonight’s game is the first of a four-game road trip that continues in New Jersey on Friday.

Capitals: Washington started its season with a 5-3 win over New Jersey at Verizon Center on Saturday. Tonight’s game is the second of a four-game homestand.

Sharks: Joel Ward. The Sharks newcomer spent four seasons with the Capitals, scoring some of the biggest goals in recent franchise history. The 34-year-old right wing recorded his first two points on Saturday, assisting on both of Patrick Marleau’s scores.

Capitals: T.J. Oshie. The Capitals traded with St. Louis for Oshie on July 2, and have him on the top line right wing with Alex Ovechkin on the other side. The 28-year-old was scoreless with a -1 rating in his Capitals debut on Saturday.
