What Couture's season review means for Sharks' future

Is Logan Couture now underrated?

That might raise an eyebrow, when you look at some of the counting stats, especially the most damning number of all, his cap hit.

Couture, 33, is signed until 2026-27 with an $8 million dollar AAV. It’s too easy to group him with the litany of big-money disappointments that have dragged down the San Jose Sharks since 2018-19.

But I’ve got other numbers, exclusively from SPORTLOGiQ, that demonstrate how good Couture still is on the ice, and in a wide variety of areas.

So is Couture that game-changer you might hope for at roughly 10 percent of the $82.5 million salary cap? Nope.
