Timo's OT goal vs. Jets caps off Sharks' rollercoaster day

The Sharks needed something to go their way Saturday night, and Timo Meier came through at just the right ... time.

Meier's one-timer on the power play at 1:07 in overtime lifted the Sharks to a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets (4-4-2) at SAP Center.

The win ended the Sharks' three-game losing streak and capped off a whirlwind day in which the team placed coach Bob Boughner and seven players into COVID-19 protocol shortly before the puck dropped.

The Sharks (5-3-0) held a 1-0 lead until late in the third period when Jets forward Kyle Connor tied the game with just over three minutes left in regulation.

A fourth straight loss would have been a bitter way for the Sharks to end the night, but Meier saved the day.

While Meier is one of the Sharks' best offensive players, it has been a while since he has scored a game-winning goal.

Meier leads the Sharks with five goals this season, and his latest is just what they needed.
