Korenar's start marks the seventh Sharks player to make his NHL debut this season. Which still is two shy of last season's mark of nine.
The 23-year-old played eight games for the San Jose Barracuda this season, going 5-1-2 protecting the net with an .898 save percentage. He had a .911 save percentage for the Barracuda in the 2018-19 season and .891 save percentage for them in 2019-20.

San Jose is going young, as seen by general manager Doug Wilson's moves at the trade deadline. While the Sharks kept goalie Martin Jones, they did trade backup goaltender Devan Dubnyk to the Colorado Avalanche for a 2021 fifth-round pick and depth defenseman Greg Pateryn.
The Sharks (18-19-4) enter Wednesday as the No. 6 seed in the West Division. The Ducks (13-23-7) are in last place. Though the Sharks are going with more of a youth movement, as seen with the Korenar move, they still could compete for a playoff spot.
