Martin Jones has stepped up his play as of late in goal for the Sharks, and it has been an integral part of the team's rise in the Honda West Division standings.
As NBC Sports California Sharks statistician Darin Stephens broke down through his Twitter account, Jones has been playing at an elite level since the calendar turned from February to March.

Jones had 35 saves in a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night, the Sharks' fourth consecutive victory. The win put the Sharks into a tie with the St. Louis Blues for fifth in the division.
Goaltending was an issue for the Sharks early in the season, but Jones playing so well has propelled San Jose. As you can see below, Jones ranks among the NHL's top netminders since the first of March.
The Sharks clearly are playing better overall, but high-danger chances allowed per 60 minutes have remained static, and Jones' save percentage has not.

Blocked shots per game, however, have ramped up over that same period.
Over the past 10 games, only the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche have been as good or better than the Sharks' 6-3-1 mark in the West division.
The trade deadline is a week away, and the Sharks appeared destined to be sellers just a few weeks ago. But if the team's hot play continues along with Jones' resurgence in goal, San Jose could find itself in the thick of the playoff chase over the final weeks of the regular season.
