Evander Kane is in the middle of a 21-game suspension by the NHL for violating the league's COVID-19 protocols, and will not be available to return to the Sharks' lineup until Nov. 30.
Sharks coach Bob Boughner was asked about Kane's whereabouts as he remains away from the team, and gave a surprising answer.

Kane issued a statement in the wake of the suspension, accepting responsibility for the violations.
"I would like to apologize to my teammates, the San Jose Sharks organization, and all Sharks fans for violating the NHL COVID protocols. I made a mistake, one I sincerely regret and take responsibility for. During my suspension, I will continue to participate in counseling to help me make better decisions in the future. When my suspension is over, I plan to return to the ice with great effort, determination, and love for the game of hockey."

The Sharks are scheduled to play at the New Jersey Devils on Nov. 30, and the organization asserted in its statement after Kane's suspension that it would not be commenting until the suspension is over.
