Barclay Goodrow never will be forgotten in Sharks lore, as his overtime goal in Game 7 of the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs first-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights arguably is the most thrilling moment in franchise history.
Goodrow was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in February for a package that included a 2020 first-round pick, something San Jose didn’t have prior to the transaction.
It doesn’t appear that Goodrow’s playoff heroics were limited to his time in a Sharks uniform, as his assist in Game 6 of Thursday night’s Eastern Conference Finals sent the Lightning to the Stanley Cup Final.

Realizing that contention wasn’t in the cards as the team sat at the bottom of the Pacific Division standings, San Jose was able to turn Goodrow and a third-round pick into the aforementioned first-rounder and prospect Anthony Greco, who immediately was assigned to the San Jose Barracuda.
There will be a familiar face from Goodrow’s days in the Bay Area lining up against him for the Stanley Cup Final, as former Sharks captain Joe Pavelski and the Dallas Stars will be Tampa Bay’s opponent.
