Sharks: After opening the scoring on a Joe Thornton marker, the Sharks surrendered four straight goals in a 4-2 defeat in Ottawa on Friday. They fell to 2-1 on a five-game road trip that concludes in Los Angeles on Tuesday. San Jose is 2-6-1 in its last nine games.
Blackhawks: Last night in Buffalo, the Blackhawks claimed a 3-2 win over the Sabres in a shootout. Dennis Rasmussen and Patrick Kane scored in regulation, with Kane getting the lone goal in the skills competition. The Blackhawks are 6-2-0 in their last eight games.

Sharks: Joe Pavelski. The Sharks captain has six points on the first three games of the road trip, including two goals. San Jose’s scoring leader with 32 points, Pavelski has 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points in 30 career games against Chicago.

Blackhawks: Artemi Panarin. The NHL’s rookie scoring leader with 31 points, the 24-year-old had two assists against the Sharks at SAP Center on Nov. 25. The Russian native has six multiple-point games this season, including four three-points efforts.
