SAN JOSE -– Logan Couture will accompany the Sharks’ on their upcoming six-game road trip, but will not skate at any point in either a practice or a game, according to coach Pete DeBoer.

San Jose plays the Red Wings in Detroit on Friday, and wraps up the trip nine days later on Nov. 22 in Columbus.

The Sharks center had surgery on Oct. 17 on a fractured right fibula and the club promptly announced that he would miss 4-to-6 weeks, but that timeline now seems optimistic, as Couture will not even be on skates more than five weeks after going under the knife.

Speaking with CSNCalifornia.com on Nov. 3, Couture said he was “definitely making progress,” but did not want to put a timeframe on his return. “I don’t know the time when I’m going to be back playing, skating, or anything like that,” he said.

Couture was spotted at Sharks Ice on Wednesday, walking around without the boot that was on his foot and ankle last week.

Couture suffered a freak injury in practice at the Prudential Center on Oct. 15, catching a rut on the ice and falling awkwardly after contact from teammate Tomas Hertl. The Sharks are 4-8-0 since losing the 26-year-old former All-Star.
