NEWARK - Logan Couture on Thursday suffered an apparent right foot or ankle injury towards the end of Sharks practice at the Prudential Center, where the Sharks play the Devils on Friday.
During a five-on-five drill Couture went down in the corner and looked to be in significant pain. After taking several moments to sit up, he was helped off of the ice by Brent Burns and Brenden Dillon, and was putting no weight whatsoever on his right leg which was being elevated by a team trainer.
Later, he was seen leaving the arena on crutches with his right foot/ankle in a boot, according to a San Jose Mercury News report.

According to general manager Doug Wilson, Couture was being evaluated after practice and no official update is expected until Friday.
Should he be out for an extended period of time, it would be a significant loss for San Jose. Couture has centered what has arguably been the team's best line through three games with wingers Joel Ward and Patrick Marleau. Couture has one assist and a +1 rating through three games.
Couture, 26, was named an alternate captain this season, his seventh with the Sharks.
