What they're saying: 49ers players react to Chip Kelly hiring

There were plenty of reactions to the 49ers' hiring of Chip Kelly around the NFL world on Thursday.

Perhaps the most interesting ones came from a handful of players who have suited up for San Francisco in recent years.

Wide receiver Torrey Smith and offensive tackle Anthony Davis had the most noteworthy responses of the bunch, but safety Eric Reid, running back Jarryd Hayne and defensive end Arik Armstead -- who played under Kelly at Oregon in 2012 -- also shared their feelings with the public.

Free-agent running back LaMichael James, who played for San Francisco from 2012-2014, briefly weighed in as well. James, a second-round draft pick of the 49ers, was a star for Kelly's 2009-2011 Ducks teams.
