SANTA CLARA – Tight end Vernon Davis, who is nearly midway through the final year of his contract with the 49ers, told CSNBayArea.com he is trying not to think about the possibility he could leave the organization in a trade.

His solid showing Thursday night and the 49ers’ fading hopes this season figure to only increase the possibility Davis could be sent to another team if the 49ers are able to obtain agreeable compensation.

Davis said his agent informed him recently about multiple reports he could become a subject of trade talks. The NFL’s trade deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. (PT).

“He told me not to worry about it,” Davis said. “It’s probably just rumors.”

Davis, 31, said he wants to remain with the team that invested the No. 6 overall pick in the 2006 draft to select him. He ranks No. 1 in 49ers history among tight ends with 435 receptions, 5,616 yards and 55 touchdowns.

“I’ve been a Niner for 10 years,” Davis said. “This is all I know. It’s really not about me being upset. I understand the nature of the business. It’s a business -- it is. If anyone was somewhere for 10 years, they’d be highly upset, highly disappointed.

“But you have to understand, after all of this, it’s a business. I have no intention of going anywhere. But sometimes things happen and you just have to be prepared for it. I think anyone would be upset.”

After catching eight passes for 109 yards in the first two games of the season, Davis was sidelined in Week 3 against Arizona with a grade-1 medial collateral sprain and bone bruise in his left knee. He was inactive for two full games and played sparingly without a reception on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.

Davis’ trade value might have been enhanced with his performance in the 49ers’ 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers fell into last place all alone in the NFC West with a 2-5 record. Davis looked healthy, played 43 of the 49ers’ 46 offensive plays, and caught a team-high four passes for 61 yards. The 49ers’ offense managed only 142 yards of total offense.

“He got involved,” 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said. “He ran good routes. The defense gave us those opportunities and he made plays for us.”
