League sources confirmed Tuesday that Wes Welker has interviewed with the 49ers. There are no specifics available regarding the position that Welker interviewed for, and team officials will not be making any announcements until contracts have been signed.
The 49ers have a few positions that need to be filled on the coaching staff after several departures due to promotions.
NBC Sports Bay Area was first to report that Dolphins tight ends coach Shane Day would take over as quarterbacks coach as a result of Rich Scangarello becoming the Broncos' offensive coordinator.

Scangarello reportedly will take 49ers offensive assistant T.C. McCartney with him to Denver, promoting him to be their quarterbacks coach.
McCartney is the son of the late Sal Aunese, who was a University of Colorado quarterback and the grandson of Bill McCartney, who was the winningest coach for the same school.
The 49ers have experienced other comings and goings on their coaching staff this offseason. Defensive backs coach Jeff Hafley left to become co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State. The team hired Joe Woods as passing game coordinator/defensive backs. The 49ers hired Kris Kocurek to replace Jeff Zgonina as defensive line coach. Also, assistant offensive line coach Adam Stenavich was hired to be Packers offensive line coach.
Welker, a former wide receiver, has been an offensive and special teams assistant for the Texans for the past two seasons. The All-Pro receiver spent his 12-year playing career with five different teams, most notably the Patriots. He lead the league in receptions in three different seasons and went to the Pro Bowl five times.

If hired, Welker likely would assist Mike LaFleur, who is the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.
