Source: 49ers sign veteran OL Mike Person to one-year contract

The 49ers on Wednesday signed veteran offensive lineman Mike Person to a one-year contract, the 49ers announced. Person comes back to the organization that selected him in the 2011 draft.

Person, 29, was a seventh-round pick of the 49ers but never appeared in a game with the team. His NFL travels have taken him to Indianapolis, Seattle, St. Louis, Atlanta, Kansas City and back to Indianapolis.

He started a career-high 14 games at center for the Falcons in 2015 with Kyle Shanahan as the team’s offensive coordinator. He started four games last season at center for the Indianapolis Colts.

Person’s versatility could be seen as a benefit for the 49ers. Person (6-foot-4, 300 pounds) is capable of playing any spot on the offensive line, but the 49ers have no proven backup behind center Weston Richburg.
