Iowa cornerback Josh Jackson took a pre-draft visit to meet with the 49ers on Monday, a league source told NBC Sports Bay Area.

Jackson is expected to be a first-round pick in next week’s NFL draft after earning consensus All-America honors with a nation-leading eight interceptions. He was named Big Ten defensive back of the year and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, which goes to the nation’s top defensive back.

He was named National Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett three times in Iowa’s 55-24 victory over Ohio State in November.

In addition his eight interceptions, Jackson led the nation with 26 pass breakups and opposing quarterbacks’ passer rating was 36.5 when throwing to his side, according to Pro Football Focus.

Jackson (6-0 3/8, 192) has the size and speed the 49ers desire from their cornerbacks. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds at the NFL scouting combine.

The 49ers have held known pre-draft visits with Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward and Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, both of whom are also expected to be first-round draft picks.
