Solomon Thomas frustrated with NFL's rookie restrictions: ‘Extremely annoying'

NFL rookies cannot join their new teams until their preceeding school year is complete. Since Stanford stays in school into June, Solomon Thomas was prevented from participating in OTAs.

The third overall draft pick was not pleased.

"It was so frustrating,” Thomas said on PFT Live this week. “It was extremely annoying. The rule doesn’t make sense.

"I really hope they take it out for other athletes that have to go through it, especially those who weren’t draft picks because that hurts them even more, they can’t even show off at OTAs. So that hurts them even more. So I really hope they take this rule away and just let the guys go."

The 21-year-old is now in full training camp swing with the 49ers and ready to compete for a starting spot on the defensive line.
