SEATTLE – Glenn Dorsey’s potential season-ending knee injury opened the door for 49ers rookie defensive lineman Arik Armstead to see his most action of the season.
Armstead, the 49ers’ first-round draft pick, played a season-high 46 snaps on defense, including his first playing time of the season in the team’s base defense. Armstead will likely see an increase in playing time with Dorsey out of action.
“I want to be a complete defensive lineman, not just a pass-rusher,” Armstead said Sunday, following the 49ers’ 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. “I want to play base and the sub packages. And the more you play, the better you get.

“I hope everything is OK with Glenn. But if he’s down, our D-line has to step up, including me. I have to step up and make plays to help our team win.”
Armstead was credited with six tackles and one quarterback hurry. But the 49ers’ defense, as a whole, had an awful time against Seahawks rookie running back Thomas Rawls and quarterback Russell Wilson.

Rawls became the first 49ers opponent in club history to eclipse 200 yards rushing with his 30-carry, 209-yard performance. And Wilson completed 24 of 29 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns.

Dorsey is scheduled for an MRI on his right knee on Monday at Stanford. His knee buckled when he was engaged with Seahawks right tackle Garry Gilliam on a running play on the 49ers’ first defensive snap of the game. The 49ers fear Dorsey sustained a season-ending injury.
Marcus Cromartie replaced starting right cornerback Kenneth Acker and played the entire second half. On offense, right guard Andrew Tiller got his first career start and played every snap. Tiller replaced Jordan Devey in the 49ers' starting lineup.
