Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll own a storied rivalry.
They went head-to-head in the then Pac-10 as head coaches of Stanford and USC, and their duels continued to the NFL level while leading the 49ers and Seahawks.

But those days are over now, as the 49ers and Harbaugh mutually parted ways on Monday with the latter expected to assume the head football coaching duties at the University of Michigan on Tuesday.
Carroll did not beat around the bush when asked about the 49ers' new direction.
"I'm glad he's out of here," Carroll said, according to the team's Twitter account. "He was tough. I wish him all the best."
