Pete Carroll and his head attire are trending, so you know it’s Super Wild Card Weekend, when everyone seeks any sign -- and we mean any -- of which teams will win and advance.
Here's the latest one: Over the course of his 13 seasons as Seattle Seahawks coach, Carroll never has been one to wear hats. His preference, he has said in the past.
But when Carroll sported a hat on the sideline during last week's Seahawks-Los Angeles Rams game -- a 19-16 overtime Seattle win -- NFL Twitter went bonkers with speculation and this interesting nugget.
That's right: Carroll has worn a hat just two times on an NFL sideline ... and won both games.
Carroll's reasoning for wearing the cap last week could carry forward to Saturday -- when his Seahawks visit the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium -- and that could be bad news for San Francisco, if you believe in omens and totems.
Apparently, Carroll chose to don the hat because it was raining, and the hoods he'd recently worn “don’t quite get it done.” Well, the Saturday forecast in Santa Clara predicts … rain. And new forecast data reveals potential thunderstorms could hit around 4 p.m., possibly interrupting fourth-quarter action.

So, given that he's undefeated when wearing a hat and rain is in the forecast, the question is, will Carroll opt to rock a cap or not? And, if Carroll does, can Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers end that streak to continue their own run of 10 consecutive wins?
It's the playoffs, so anything can happen.
