It’s the first time this entire offseason that Lance and Garoppolo have thrown on the same field together since the quarterback extravaganza began earlier this year.
And as odd as it all might seem to the outside world, it was business as usual in Santa Clara.
The future of the franchise was on full display as Lance hit Brandon Aiyuk right on target, followed by Garoppolo connecting with Danny Gray.
After making it clear that they were going to move forward with their 2021 first-round pick as their QB1, the 49ers tried all offseason to find Garoppolo a new home.
But after failing to find a viable trade partner for Garoppolo and refusing to let him walk right into the hands of Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers decided to keep the veteran QB as Lance’s backup.
