Warner records career-high PFF score in win over Packers

After a fiery pep talk to his defense, Fred Warner recorded a career-high PFF score in the 49ers' 13-10 win over the Packers

Warner, who was upset by the Packers’ first drive of the game, riled up this defense and they responded by keeping the Packers out of the end zone for the remainder of the game. The All-Pro linebacker also led by example, receiving the highest mark by Pro Football Focus on the team.

On the other side of the ball, it seemed that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was on the ground a lot during the game. He was sacked four times, but outside of those takedowns, Garoppolo was pressured just five additional times, which is significantly less than what Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers faced.

Rodgers was pressured 18 times - five sacks, one hit and 12 hurries. Seven different 49ers defenders affected the Packers' quarterback making it truly a team effort. Kyle Shanahan was impressed by the defense’s efforts.

“Our guys sometimes they will bend, but they don’t seem to break,” Shanahan said. “That first drive there was nothing really wrong. We just weren’t doing that good. I feel like our guys settled down a little bit, got used to the elements, and just tightened everything up.”

TE George Kittle - 88.5

The All-Pro had the highest overall score on offense. While Kittle missed an opportunity early in the game, dropping a pass that would have gone for a touchdown, he made up for it by catching four passes for 63 yards, all for which resulted in a first down.

WR Deebo Samuel - 82.2

The All-Pro wide receiver continued his versatile ways carrying the ball 10 times for 39 yards, 30 of which came after contact. Samuel’s biggest play of the night was converting a critical 3rd down on the club’s game-winning drive.

Samuel also had three catches for 44 yards with 46 yards coming after the catch. The wideout forced three missed tackles on the ground and three more through the air. Of the seven total missed tackles forced by the offense, Samuel was responsible for six of them.

Shanahan also sent the big man in motion with a running start and wreaked havoc on the Packers who were attempting to get into the 49ers' backfield.

The 49ers offensive line allowed eight pressures - three quarterback sacks, one hit and four hurries. Laken Tomlinson - one hurry, Daniel Brunskill - one hurry, Alex Mack - one hit, Tom Compton - two sacks and two hurries.

Defense:

LB Fred Warner - 94.2

Not only did he record six tackles - three solo, but Warner also allowed only one catch on three targets in coverage for zero yards. The All-Pro also recorded two run stops and a forced fumble.

LB Nick Bosa - 89.4
