Ward, Jordan ruled out of 49ers-Cowboys with injuries

The already-injured 49ers defense took another hit Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Both safety Jimmie Ward and defensive end Dion Jordan were ruled out during the third quarter of the 49ers' Week 15 road game. Ward was ruled out with a concussion, while Jordan exited early with a knee injury.

Ward sustained his concussion attempting a big hit on Cowboys rookie receiver CeeDee Lamb near the end of the first half.

The 49ers signed Ward to a three-year, $28.5 million contract in March. He has been injured throughout his career, but only has missed one game this season. The former first-round pick entered Sunday with 65 tackles, four passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

Jordan, 30, has played in 11 games this season. The former No. 3 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft has shown flashes of his past ability, and came into the day with three sacks and five QB hits.

Running back Raheem Mostert was listed as questionable to return with an ankle injury at the time of this publishing.
