McKinnon ‘said what I said;' doesn't expect to return to 49ers

He said what he said, and he meant it.

Free agent running back Jerick McKinnon doubled down that he will not be returning to the 49ers in 2021. He made that clear on Instagram:

"Forever thankful but I said what I said," McKinnon wrote.

Another Instagram situation had McKinnon saying “Man, f--k no,” he wouldn’t return to the team. 

“Hell you talking about? We gone. We gone," McKinnon told former teammate Deebo Samuel during the live stream.

McKinnon signed a four-year, $30 million contract with the 49ers at the beginning of 2018, but didn’t play a single game due to injuries. He sustained a torn ACL a week prior to that season and again was placed on season-ending injured reserve in the summer of 2019.

He then agreed to restructure his contract that would pay him a $910,000 based salary for the 2020 season.

Last season, in 16 games, he accumulated 572 yards and six touchdowns.

It appears the restructured deal left a bad taste in his mouth.
