INDIANAPOLIS -- Right tackle Mike McGlinchey is making good progress in his expected six-month rehabilitation after undergoing surgery to repair his torn right quadriceps, 49ers general manager John Lynch said.
McGlinchey, 27, the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, experienced issues over the past several seasons with his right leg. Although the injury and surgery brought an early end to his 2021 season, he is expected to be stronger than ever for the start of training camp.
“Mike's doing well,” Lynch said at the NFL Scouting Combine. “He had a significant surgery to repair that quad tendon, but just as Mike has always done, he attacks everything 100 percent and his rehab is going really well.

“We're pleased with his progress. We're going to give him the time he needs, so not only that he gets back, but he gets back and is pain-free and can play like we believe he is capable of playing.”

McGlinchey underwent surgery in November after sustaining the injury in the first half of the 49ers’ Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers turned to veteran Tom Compton to start the final 10 games, including all three in the postseason.
McGlinchey is scheduled to play the 2022 season on the fifth-year option at the fully guaranteed salary of $10.88 million.
