The 49ers face the Saints this Sunday and while both teams aren’t playing as we would have hoped heading into the season, the New Orleans’ squad can’t be slept on. Especially right now.
“You have a New Orleans’ Saints staff, this team has everybody healthy now,” NBC Sports Bay Area analyst Takeo Spikes said on a recent episode of the "49ers Talk" podcast. “They embarrass people especially with Michael Thomas back.”
Thomas, the Saints’ top wide receiver, had a full day’s worth of practice on Friday after being limited for weeks due to ankle and hamstring injuries. He's a game-changer and creates a difficult situation for the 49ers to defend. In 2019, Thomas had a league-high 149 receptions for 1,725 yards during an All-Pro season.

“Now that he’s back, you can’t double one guy, like they will eat you up regardless of whatever they may put out on the field,” Spikes added.
Spikes also mentioned the 49ers’ defense needs to be on their game if they stand a chance of beating the Saints.
The Saints' defense, against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 9, had three interceptions and three sacks in the 38-3 win.
