The 49ers gave their newest teammate Christian McCaffrey a warm welcome after San Francisco’s seismic trade with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night.
Or something like that.
As the love came pouring in for McCaffrey, 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw sent a distinctive, NSFW message to the star running back on Instagram.

Greenlaw commented on a photo posted by the Ninersnationsbn Instagram account on Thursday which revealed the breaking news of the trade.
"Sorry for talking s--t can’t wait to meet ya buddy," Greenlaw wrote.
Of course, what Greenlaw said to McCaffrey in the first place isn't clear. But at least he's making things right with his new teammate, right?
The news did get actual great reactions from George Kittle and Trey Lance, and even brought a huge smile to coach Kyle Shanahan’s face during a KNBR interview Friday morning.

McCaffrey landed in the Bay on Friday morning as an official 49er, but his status for San Francisco’s Week 7 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday is uncertain.

While Shanahan said the decision is still "up in the air," general manager John Lynch said the running back already is asking to play in the game that takes place 48 hours after his arrival to Santa Clara.
McCaffrey likely will spend Friday and Saturday getting to know his teammates, and maybe he'll even get an in-person apology from Greenlaw.
