Wide receiver Deebo Samuel sat out practice Wednesday with a bruised foot, which should not prevent him from being ready to go for the 49ers’ game Sunday against Washington.
The injury has nothing to do with the foot fracture Samuel sustained during player-organized workouts in the offseason, coach Kyle Shanahan said.
“He just took a knee on the foot, so not related, but (it is) too sore today to go,” Shanahan said. “I bet if it was a Wednesday, he’d probably be able to go. But to us, it's a Tuesday.”

The 49ers played Monday night against the Buffalo Bills in Glendale, Arizona. On a normal work week, NFL teams have two days to rest their bodies before taking part in their first practice of the week to face the upcoming opponent.
Samuel was held without a catch for nearly three quarters of the 49ers’ 34-24 loss to the Bills. He ended up catching six passes for 73 yards.
Right guard Tom Compton did not practice on Wednesday, as he went back into the NFL concussion protocol. Compton sat out the 49ers’ Week 12 game against the Los Angeles Rams with a concussion sustained during a walk-through practice. Compton and rookie Colton McKivitz have been sharing time at right guard.
Nose tackle D.J. Jones did not practice as the 49ers began their second week of practices in Arizona. But the club received encouraging news that he did not sustain a season-ending high-ankle sprain.
