49ers special-teams coordinator Richard Hightower drew some high praise during the recent playoff run, as his unit blocked a field goal and a punt for a touchdown in the thrilling win over the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round. It appears he will be taking his talents elsewhere, as Hightower has accepted the same role with the Chicago Bears on new head coach Matt Eberflus' staff, the organization announced Sunday.
Hightower has been with the 49ers' staff since Kyle Shanahan took over as head coach in 2017.

It was Jimmie Ward who blocked a Mason Crosby field goal attempt late in the first half of the divisional-round game between the 49ers and Packers, maintaining a one-score edge for Green Bay after two quarters.
Later, the 49ers' only touchdown of the night came after Jordan Willis busted through and blocked a punt, which was recovered and waltzed into the end zone by Niners safety Talanoa Hufanga.
