49ers sign long-snapper Taybor Pepper to two-year contract extension

The 49ers on Thursday announced the signing of long-snapper Taybor Pepper to a two-year contract extension through the 2022 season.

Pepper originally signed with the 49ers on Sept. 30 after long-time player Kyle Nelson, who had shown signs of losing his touch, completely fell apart in the 49ers' Week 3 victory over the New York Giants. Nelson was cut, and Pepper took his place.

Pepper, 26, appeared in 12 games this season and seemed to build a strong rapport with punter/holder Mitch Wishnowsky and kicker Robbie Gould. Pepper also made two special-teams tackles.

Pepper appeared in four games with the Green Bay Packers in 2017 and all 16 games with the Miami Dolphins in 2019.

He missed the final game of the season while on the NFL's reserve/COVID-19 list. He was cleared off that list this week in order to re-sign with the 49ers.

The 49ers now have 37 players who are scheduled for free agency.
