The 49ers on Wednesday promoted offensive lineman Tony Bergstrom to the active roster from the team’s practice squad, the club announced.
The 49ers also signed two players to the practice squad: veteran cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun and tight end Daniel Helm.
Bergstrom, 34, was originally signed to the 49ers’ practice squad on Oct. 27. He has appeared in 82 career games since breaking into the NFL in 2012 with the Raiders. He played 42 games the past three seasons with Washington.

The 49ers likely signed Boddy-Calhoun for his ability to play nickel back. Dontae Johnson took over as the 49ers’ nickel back on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills after injuries to K’Waun Williams, Jamar Taylor and Emmanuel Moseley.
Helm has bounced from the 49ers’ practice squad to the active roster repeatedly this season. He has appeared in three games this season on special teams.
