Raiders head coach Dennis Allen, the former defensive coordinator in Denver, reportedly is interested in Green Bay cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt to run Oakland's defense.
The NFL Network reported Wednesday night that the Raiders requested permission from the Packers to interview Whitt about their defensive coordinator job, according to a league source said.
Whitt, 33, joined Green Bay's staff in 2008. He was a walk-on wide receiver at Auburn before a series of operations ended his playing career.

His father, Joe Sr., became the first African-American assistant at Auburn in 1981 when he joined Pat Dye's staff. He spent 25 years coaching linebackers, the defensive line and as assistant head coach.
Asked by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel earlier this season to describe this coaching style, Whitt did not hesitate.
"Blunt. Very blunt," he said. "There's no gray area."
At 32, Whitt was the third-youngest secondary coach in the NFL in 2011.

Veteran defensive coordinator Greg Manusky, who spent last season in San Diego and the previous four as 49ers defensive coordinator, was hired as the new defensive coordinator in Indianapolis. Manusky interviewed with the Raiders for the defensive coordinator's job this week.
