Report: Le'Veon Bell on market as Steelers listening to trade offers

Let the bidding for Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell begin.

With Bell's holdout stretching into the third week of the 2018 season, Pittsburgh has started listening to offers for the three-time Pro Bowl running back, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bell, who has had the franchise tag slapped on him, is looking for a mega contract and the Steelers haven't been willing to meet his terms, which has led to this point.

With offseason acquisition Jerick McKinnon suffering a season-ending torn ACL just before Week 1, 49ers fans have been clamoring for GM John Lynch to go get Bell.

So is it possible? In terms of salary cap room, yes, according to Over The Cap's projections. The 49ers will have $66.9 million in effective cap space in 2019.

But as Senior Insider Ray Ratto wrote two weeks ago, the 49ers may be reluctant to pay the steep price to acquire Bell and there's no certainty that Bell would want to re-sign with the 49ers.
