The 49ers now have veteran Brian Hoyer in the mix, but they are still in need of help at the quarterback position.
Kirk Cousins, 28, was a first-time Pro Bowler last year after completing 406 passes for 4,917 yards -- both third in the league, and he would reportedly like to leave Washington to reconnect with new 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
"Cousins has made it clear he does not want to be there," NFL Network's Steve Wyche said. "He wants to get to San Francisco and play for Kyle Shanahan."

Cousins went so far as to personally appeal for a trade from Dan Snyder, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, but that the Washington owner told him not to get his hopes up.
Cousins played his first two NFL seasons with Shanahan as the offensive coordinator.
