Report: Broncos won't let Raiders talk to LB coach Smith

Cross another logical name off new Raiders coach Dennis Allen's wish list for defensive coordinator.According to ESPN, Denver has denied the Raiders permission to talk to linebackers coach Richard Smith. The Broncos apparently saw losing Allen, their first-year defensive coordinator last season, as enough of a final straw. Especially to a division rival.
Three other names purportedly linked to the gig dropped off the list over the weekend in Kansas City defensive backs Emmitt Thomas, New Orleans defensive line coach Bill Johnson and former Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio, who replaced Allen as the Broncos' D.C.Names now being floated include 49ers secondary coach Ed Donatell, who has been a defensive coordinator in Green Bay (2000-03) and Atlanta (2004-2006), and former 49ers (2007-10) and San Diego (2011) defensive coordinator Greg Manusky.
