
Guard Alex Boone, a starter on the 49ers' offensive line the past four seasons, will reportedly sign with the Minnesota Vikings as an unrestricted free agent.
Boone has agreed to terms to play for the Vikings, ESPN reported. The deal can become official at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, at the opening of the free-agent signing period.
Boone was not expected to return to the 49ers as a free agent after holding out from the team's offseason programs the past two years. in 2014, he skipped training camp to leverage for a new contract. He finally reported to the 49ers at the beginning of the regular season.

Last year, he did not take part in the offseason program but reported on time for the opening of training camp.
The 49ers and Boone never made any progress toward a new deal, and his departure was seen as inevitable.
With Boone no longer in the picture, the 49ers' depth chart at guard consists of Andrew Tiller, Marcus Martin, Erik Pears, Jordan Devey, Brandon Thomas and Ian Silberman. The 49ers have contacted the agent for Seattle free-agent guard J.R. Sweezy and are potentially interested in signing him as an unrestricted free agent.
Boone signed a four-year, $26.8 million contract with $10 million guaranteed, according to the Houston Chronicle.
