Lawson, 6-foot-3, 269 pounds, was a consensus All-American for the Tigers in 2015.
Over three seasons, he racked up 123 total tackles, 45.5 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, one pass deflection and a forced fumble.
Lawson's final seasons was his best across the board, as he finally reached double-digit sacks (12.5), an ACC high, while also finishing with an NCAA-high 24.5 tackles for loss.
The 49ers also reportedly met with another top edge prospect in Ohio State's Joey Bosa.
Lawson has workouts planned with the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, as well.
