Report: 49ers' Pierre Garçon draws interest before NFL trade deadline

The 49ers apparently have interest in trading Pierre Garçon.

The team reportedly has received inquiries from multiple teams interested in making a deal for the veteran wide receiver, who will not play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals because of knee and shoulder issues. He didn't make the trip with the team to Arizona.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 1 p.m. PT.

Garçon, 32, could be attractive to a playoff-contending team that needs a reliable possession receiver. He “has drawn interest from multiple teams around the league,” ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday, citing sources. Schefter added that the 49ers have received calls from at least three teams in the past week.

Garçon has gotten off to a slow start with just 21 receptions for 230 yards and no touchdowns. He ranks second on the 49ers in receptions behind tight end George Kittle’s 32 and third in receiving yards behind Kittle (527) and fullback Kyle Juszczyk (245).

Garçon was off to a hot start last season with 40 catches for 500 yards before he sustained a neck injury in the eighth game of the season. He spent the rest of the season on injured reserve.

The 49ers signed Garçon to a five-year, $47.375 million contract on the first day of free agency in 2017. He is scheduled to earn $5.65 million in base salary next season before his salary jumps to a non-guaranteed $8.55 million in 2020 and $9.25 million in 2021.
