Raiders re-sign QB Peterman to one-year deal for 2021

The Raiders re-signed quarterback Nathan Peterman to a one-year contract Thursday, the team annonced. Coach Jon Gruden has praised Peterman in the past, and it appears the QB will come back for another season in Las Vegas.

He was on the Raiders practice squad in 2018, on injured reserve in 2019 and served as a backup/third-string QB for Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota in 2020.

Peterman is most known for a disastrous start to his NFL career, including throwing five interceptions in one half with the Buffalo Bills in 2017. In eight games across his first two career seasons in Buffalo, he threw 12 interceptions with just three touchdowns.

But no, it doesn’t appear Carr’s starting job is in any danger. Peterman will remain a backup option despite the reported "hot commodity" interest in Carr.

Peterman appeared in just one game last season. In that outing, he completed 3-of-5 passes in the loss to the Atlanta Falcons back in November.
